Two things you might want to consider:

1. Say you need to make a 40% profit margin on a handbag you would sell in your store for $1,000, then submit a maximum bid of around $600 (60% of your store price).
2. Check out the Recently Won Bids on each item page as you shop to give you an idea of how much to bid.
