“Dear to Alessandro Michele, every Beloved design is linked to the House’s past, which the Creative Director has brought into the present, imbuing in each piece the notion of a cherished wardrobe essential to return to, season after season.” – Gucci’s website
When Alessandro Michele took over as Creative Director of Gucci in 2016, he wanted to make a lasting impact on the brand and honor their iconic history. As a nod to a Gucci logo belt that launched in the 1970s, he redesigned the double GG emblem and strategically placed it on a new collection of Gucci handbags, wallets, backpacks, and accessories that he called the Marmont.
Well, the Marmont is one of Gucci’s most popular collections…and ours too! From the Marmont Matelasse shoulder bag to the Velvet belt bag, and the Camera bag to the GG Signature Web Striped belt, LePrix’s got it all in brand new and gently used condition. The line isn’t old enough to be considered vintage, classic, or iconic just yet but stay tuned.
Once the collection launched, the artsy GG logo adorned buttery-soft lambskin leather in a quilted, zigzag-like design that defined Marmont’s wallets, totes, bags, and more. Now, you can get Marmont products in a dizzying array of materials and designs, like velvet, canvas, denim, python, and grained leather. The logo has also been revamped and updated to include rich embellishments and distinctive textures.
The Marmont products are also available in limited-edition options such as graffiti, embroidered stars, web hearts and floral jacquard.
Starting at $890 for the GG Marmont super mini bag, Gucci’s got Chanel beat when it comes to luxury items at a lower price point, but will you get as much of a return in the resale market? Probably not because this collection hasn’t been around long enough to justify a $6,000 resale value, but it’s very possible that by 2036 this now-trendy collection could reach timeless, classic status—especially if Gucci follows down the same price increase path as Dior, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
Since we’re all still trying to figure out when and where we’ll be able to wear the items collecting dust in our closets, it does make more sense to buy your designer must-haves for less at LePrix.
I finally had a reason to get dressed up on Friday night and when I opened my closet door, I swear I heard cheers from my heels and dresses.
In all seriousness, paying retail price for anything brand new right now seems to be a complete waste of money. There’s no sense of urgency and seemingly nowhere to go, so just follow the crowds of Gucci items to LePrix and start shopping our Marmont collection!
