When trying to find words to describe Anna Wintour, I can’t help but feel slightly intimidated. This woman is her own kind of force of nature and the definition of what it means to be a #GIRLBOSS (shout out to Sophia Amoruso for the fab hashtag). In her 27-years as editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour has absolutely helped shape the fashion industry into the fabulous conglomerate that it is today. She is respected as much as she is feared (it’s the sunnies and lack of smile, am I right?) and the industry as a whole turns to her for fashion guidance. And home girl does NOT disappoint.
Anna’s style in known to be slightly more conservative and almost uniform like. I mean let’s think about her hair for a second. Fly-away’s do not exist in that perfectly sleek, ever-present bob, they just don’t (picture her with a ponytail for a second, it’s just not right). Although she only dares to show off midi-length leg and occasionally her toned arms, Anna never steps out in less than the highest of high fashion. Seen above arriving in Venice for George and Amal Clooney's wedding (still bitter that my invite got lost in the mail, ugh), Anna spells out how to arrive in style.
Whether you are attending an A-list wedding or prepping your closet for the work week, jot down some editor's notes on how to dress like Anna Wintour. Dare to be high fashion by centering your look around a statement making pencil skirt. It's okay if the skirt has more than one color in it, but just be cautious that the colors don't overpower the rest of your look. Next, go for a simple sweater in a similar color that is in your skirt, but is not the main color. For example, Anna chose a green sweater because her skirt has small green detailing in it. Next, add in some neutral colored heels and a bag so as not to distract from the rest of your outfit. Finish off your look with a statement necklace, but keep it on the simpler side like Ms. Wintour's double stranded jeweled piece. Now, unleash your inner Anna and go be the boss lady you were meant to be!
