Phoebe Philo: A Tale Of Fashion Resurrection

Miss Phoebe Philo has an impressive resume. Besides being named dropped on multiple Kanye tracks, she is known for rescuing not one, but two fashion houses from irrelevancy.

In the early 2000's the legendary brand Chloé was at the verge of extinction. Then Pheobe came along and created the Paddington Bag, and suddenly Chloé got its cool back. The entire spring 2008 collection was on back order, and every gilded girl owned one. When the brand was at it's apogee, she decided to put her shiny career on standby and focus on her family. After a  3 year "leave of absence" LVMH group offered Pheobe the opportunity to reinvent Celine. At that time, the now trendy brand was seemingly dormant. Philo's debut collection was praised by critics, and had everyone saying "she did it again." Her ability to turn the dated brand into the leader of Parisian minimalist cool consolidated her as a leading force in fashion. The question remains: how has she been able to be so successful in bringing back brands from the fashion grave? Vogue's Sarah Mower explains it perfectly, "because it's the work of a women working for women." We couldn't agree more.
