It’s July. The inevitable heat wave is creeping in, and Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” is once again our nation’s theme song.
As the temperature rises to an uncomfortable level, here are a few tips to help you beat the heat and keep you from wanting to take a dip in the closest public water fountain.
1. Keep it Light
If you are trying to keep it cool (not just your body temperature), light colors and fabrics are your new best friends. Cotton or linen clothes in white or neutral colors will ensure you look great while staying cool. Try something like this.

2. Loosen Up
Ditch the body cons and embrace the loose sundresses. One of the best ways to keep cool while still looking cute is to don a loose maxi or a roomy shift dress. Try a dress like this Missoni striped dress that can double as your own personal air-conditioner as you walk down the street.

3. Hang Ten
Keep your shoes as breezy as possible. A pair of edgy strappy sandals is always a necessity. If you have to wear flats try to pick something breathable.

4. Party in the Back
A backless or split back shirt is a surefire way to keep yourself calm, cool, and collected. Keep covered with a blazer in the office and air out on your walk home.

5. When All Else Fails...
Grab a sleeveless shirtdress and throw it on. You can always trust a light, loose shirtdress to keep you as cool as possible when the heat threatens to ruin your day.
