If you’re lucky enough to have shopped the brick and mortar store, you’ve most likely encountered a bevy of brand names at the right prices, a friendly welcome from hard-at-work storeowner Donna Ulrich and limitless displays of client appreciation. If you’re not local, Ulrich has taken the liberty of bringing her mission to make women feel good to the web via SNOBSWAP. Read on as we talk trends, brand expansion and embracing your inner gorgeous.
Tell us a little bit about Hello Gorgeous. What is the underlying mission behind it?
Well, Hello Gorgeous is a business that I started as an outlet for repurposing beautiful things. Often times we have items that we don’t need anymore but may be above a threshold of donating or simply throwing away. Hello Gorgeous is the alternative outlet. I wanted to open a space that validated women and made them feel good.

Your website boasts a variety of fun promotional events within the store. Have you found that creating an intimate shopping experience has helped business?
It sure does! We offer a VIP membership for $15.00 a year. Customers get our signature canvas tote and a yearly discount on all purchases. Events like
Wine Wednesday can bring in between 50-80 customers at one time. It creates a nice setting, like you’re at a friends house rather than a store.

How do you curate your store from season to season? Does your own personal style ever influence it?
I would have to say it does. I love vintage fashion and some places won’t even take it if it’s over two years old. Classic can be a dirty word in the disposable society of consignment, but sometimes the older, well-made pieces are worth the second look. As far as curating goes, we keep up with the trends from season to season by staying on top of Vogue and similar publications.
What are your favorite looks for this summer season that we can hope to see from Hello Gorgeous?
We actually have a Youtube channel and our latest feature is on Summer Trends. Out of our current stock we have a Dolce & Gabanna Scarf; a new with tags Lilly Pulitzer "Franco" dress; Donald J. Pliner sandals; this Kate Spade purse and a pair of Stuart Weitzman espadrilles.
How long has Hello Gorgeous been open? What have you accomplished thus far and where do you see the future going?
We have been open four years now and have grown from a 3,500 sqft space to a 5,000 sqft space. We’re currently test-marketing a new location with a potential partner and looking into the possibility of franchising. We have an e-commerce site, but I am excited for our partnership with SNOBSWAP to expand that part of the business. It not only benefits us, but also our consignors, to expose their merchandise to more eyes.
