Guest Editor: Brooke of What2Wear Reveals the Art of Mixing Highs & Lows
The talented Brooke Allen of What2Wear  - a new mom who is constantly reinventing her style - reveals how she balances mixing high end pieces with everyday basics.

There is no better way to develop your own style than by learning the art of mixing high & low pieces. Locating those hard to find coveted designer pieces can take some skills, but no matter what your style may be, the key is to find the balance between high end quality pieces with every day basics. That is the secret to cultivating one amazing wardrobe. Here are some of my everyday favorite looks. Enjoy!

1. Enviably Eclectic

Every eclectic girl knows the value of a great printed dress and how to transform it with chunky boots and edgy accessories like an animal print bag. Also, a leather belt is a necessity for every wardrobe no matter what your style.

2. Everyday Edge

Do you ever envy those girls that look so nonchalant and effortless yet totally chic? Their secret is a closet of edgy pieces that they can throw on without any thought and know they will look good. Those pieces are (your version of a) leather jacket, leather flats and some great cutoffs. Mix and match those pieces with different tops like a printed button down or silk blouse.

3. Classic and Chic

Classic pieces put together in an interesting way can totally transform a look. First, find a great leather will use it for years to come (I promise), then, get yourself a great tailored blazer. Throw it over your shoulders like a cape with some denim for an easy every day look or pair it with a pencil skirt and great heels. Ankle boots also stand the test of time for every style, leather specifically seems polished. And stack up on striped tees, you can purchase these at any price range and they look good with just about everything.

3. Fiercely Feminine

Who says feminine has to be frilly? A leather skirt has the perfect amount of sultriness yet has soft lines. Pair a leather skirt with a v-neck sweater and a unique leather clutch on your next date night and see if you don't get noticed. But don't forget about a fierce pair of heels.....every femme fatale needs some.
